Ellie Salyers
Hello! My name is Ellie Salyers and I am a multimedia artist based out of Brooklyn, NY. This website includes a few of the projects I've worked on these past few years.

I re-imagine the known and the unknown, where the known (reality) is obsolete while the unknown (uncanny, post-human) is revealed. What does the unknown look like? How does it feel? What can it tell us? I explore these questions in my printmaking and painting. I look at the shapes of shadows and what they conceal and reveal. I investigate the unstable boundary between amorphous and rigid structures, observing what happens when they interact. I am interested in the vastness of certain spaces where the sky and earth seemingly go on forever. In these never-ending realms, I imagine the vulnerability of emotion, fragility of the body, and fear of technology. How do the self and the body change when faced with such openness? I experiment with a few potential answers in my art: heightened freedom and fear (emotionally and physically), a shifting of the laws of physics (such as the possibility of flotation and two-dimensional planes), and reality becoming nothing but the inside of a mind.
